Reducing the Risk (RTR) is a 16-session curriculum designed to help high school students delay the initiation of sex or increase the use of protection against pregnancy and STD/HIV if they choose to have sex. This research-proven approach addresses skills such as risk assessment, communication, decision making, planning, refusal strategies and delay tactics.
The Coalition has a strong partnership with Lee County Schools and this partnership allows for the RTR program to be implemented during the ninth grade health and PE classes.
Session topics include: Abstinence, Refusal Skills, Delay Tactics, Avoiding High Risk Situations, Knowing and Talking About Protection, HIV and STD Prevention, and Implementing Protection from STD and Pregnancy
The RTR program can be found at the following schools:
Lee County High School
Southern Lee High School
